This is a personal re-design project for Expedia. I have a been a long term user of Expedia and I wanted to to attempt a re-design exploration of the app. I am also a user of Airbnb and love their design principles and clean and simplistic designs, use of white space and photography. Airbnb uses Material Design as a framework.
I approached my re-design exploration using Google's Material Design framework and inspiration from AirBnB design principles & components. I re-designed the home page, search results, filtering (calendar, time, guests), hotel details page and navigation.
I love to learn how companies with a design culture implement their visual language systems hence this super fun exercise. Scroll down to view the video prototype or download the PDF.

Styledguide & Foundation
I started the project with a barebones styleguide. This helped in establishing a foundation for typography, colors, icons, spacing and information architecture.
Components & Grid
The beauty of using Google Material designs is that you can use pre-defined components and grids to quickly iterate on designs. I used and refined Google's Material components below to match the features on my design.
